Open for business since 1934, Ship Tavern is one of several restaurants in the Brown Palace Hotel. A ship’s mast and crow’s nest add to the ambience and reflect the theme of the room. Stop by after work for drinks or a casual dinner with friends. The room is especially lively on weekends when the pianist entertains. The Tavern is famous for huge slices of slow roasted prime rib with natural au jus, hot horseradish, a giant baked potato and slaw. The other specialty, Rocky Mountain trout, arrives with herb butter. More choices include a lobster salad sandwich, maple-glazed pork chops and halibut. Most of the efficient and well-trained staff has been around for years. Enjoy black-bottom pie or macaroons for dessert.
