This delightful spot brings raves for breakfast, lunch and dinner. One room, seating about 60, mustard colored walls with red trim, black booths, green concrete table tops and fun art on the walls set the scene. Funky and fun in décor, the food is definitely gourmet. Breakfast and lunch are divine with great choices of eggs, pancakes, French toast and more served through the day. Wonderful salads and sandwiches are more choices for the lunch crowd. Dinner is the new addition and is not to be missed. Start with pastry wrapped brie complemented by a fig compote, roasted garlic and green apples or a trio of bruschetta--beet, hummus and tomato basil. Other great starters include house smoked trout, mussels, ancho chile grilled shrimp and squash and apple soup. Butternut squash ravioli or wild mushroom ravioli with truffle oil please vegetarians (or not) while pan roasted chicken with risotto, trout in lemon butter with gnocchi and pork tenderloin with jalapeno sweet potatoes show the creativity of the chef. Add lump crab mac and cheese, sirloin steak and a Maverick ranch burger and decisions are difficult. Desserts include a unique raspberry filled donut with coffee cream, maple cheesecake, a trio of crème brulées, and chocolate bread pudding. The wine list is comprehensive, and service is excellent with a very friendly, knowledgeable staff. With reasonable prices, Mona's is a perfect choice for any meal and a super addition to the neighborhood--and Mona (Lisa) would smile after dining at her name sake.
