The Oceanaire sails into Denver as an exciting addition to the chain across the country. Fashioned after a ship—luxury liner for sure—the place is beautiful. Enter to the bar area with comfortable seating, and a gorgeous bar with a beautiful back wall of wines and bottles. Enjoy cocktails and relax with appetizers here or move into the lovely dining room. Booths and very comfortable tables are nicely spaced in the upscale room. Sharing plates, and bottles of Bay Seasoning, Tabasco and catsup are on the table as the relish tray of herring and peppers is presented to all. Start with mussels, fried calamari, clams casino, crabmeat cocktail, and shrimp. The crab cake is outstanding, full of crab and a must while dining here. A huge selection of raw oysters is offered along with oysters Rockefeller. There are several soups and salads but save room as the à la carte entrées are served in gigantic portions. The fresh fish is listed at the top of the menu and can be ordered grilled or in special preparations. Coriander crusted diver scallops, ahi tuna with wasabi and ginger, grouper, swordfish Oscar, whole stuffed trout, cioppino and scampi are more choices. The whole arctic char, deep fried, is about as big as anything ever put on a plate! Sides include mashed potatoes, hash browns, butter braised beets, peas and carrots, corn, and bacon steaks (yes, real slabs of bacon). Outrageous desserts include strawberry shortcake, key lime pie, chocolate mousse and the most decadent caramel brownie sundae that could feed 14. It is divine. Steaks, a fabulous pork chop, and poultry are available for those who are not seafood lovers. The wine list is excellent and pours are very generous. Service is great. Prices are definitely on the high side and doggy bags are mandatory. Sail on down for fresh seafood in this new exciting spot.
