Blake Street Tavern slides into the ballpark neighborhood and steps up to the plate with great food and drink. Fans will enjoy the wooded décor, pictures of old ballparks and nicely placed pool tables. The cuisine is definitely on the "hit" list--no strikeouts here. Start with great appetizers and snacks that include chips and salsa, guacamole, nachos, chicken wings and onion rings. Do not miss the hummus spiked with garlic and lemon and served with crispy, toasted pita triangles. No one can eat just one. Enjoy fish and chips, mac and cheese and barbecued pork. A steak sandwich with "black knight" sauce (coffee, Worcestershire and barbecue) is a winner. The turkey burger, hot Polish sandwich and club are other good choices. The buffalo burger arrives on a delicious bun with fries, greens or slaw. There's also soup, salad and a kiddie menu. Save room for the chocolate brownie à la mode. Blake Street Tavern definitely hits a homerun. |
