Hutch and Spoon couldn’t have a better name. Situated on the far north end of Larimer St. this classic, simple, boutique eatery is reminiscent of an old 1960’s kitchen, complete with a hutch and an array of antique spoons displayed on the walls. The small, yet comfortable dining area seats all of 19 people and encourages guests to slow down for a moment and enjoy life’s simplicities with a delicious sandwich and perhaps a cup of coffee. The ever-changing, short-but-sweet menu offers selections of house made sandwiches, salad and soup of the day. Current specialties included egg and feta breakfast panino, grilled cheese with peach chutney and meatloaf and cheddar; both on sourdough. The bread, from City Bakery, is fresh and perfectly crisp. Coffee selections are available, as well are house made sodas such as ginger-pineapple and a refreshing cucumber. The chosen breakfast or lunch selection may take a bit of time to prepare, but that completes the concept of Hutch and Spoon and it’s sure worth the wait.
