Housed in the old Union Pacific building in LoDo, Denver Chop House’s upbeat atmosphere gives the original railroad décor a modern, sophisticated feel. Large booths offer views of the kitchen and the brew tanks behind the gigantic bar. Start your feast with one of the best mussel renditions in town (a bowl of plump, juicy mussels in a delicious marinara sauce) that’s perfect for sopping up with bread. Other great choices include a tower of homemade onion rings, grilled portobello mushrooms and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Each entrée comes with cornbread in a black iron skillet, a great house salad in a bottomless bowl, vegetables and potatoes. Try the famous 22-ounce porterhouse, cedar-grilled plank salmon, veal chops, tuna, pork chops or the chef’s daily special, but don’t forget the deliciously cheesy mashed potatoes. Save room for the heavenly desserts. Nobody leaves this perennial Denver favorite hungry.
