Proto’s is about pizza. Attractive, simple surroundings, a nice bar and a great patio please fans of every age. Good wines and friendly, efficient service keep people smiling and willing to drive from all over. Napoletana-style pizzas are irregularly shaped, blistered and charred works of art that avoid cracker texture in favor of great taste. Combinations of pesto, mozzarella, feta, kalamata olives and artichoke hearts nicely accent the crust. Select another divine combination—sun-dried tomatoes, basil and mozzarella—or build your own pie from a comprehensive list of ingredients. A variety of salads is offered as a starter. Try them all but save room for a tartufo or cannoli. You’ll leave stuffed but ready to return. Friday night is clam pizza night. Get there early before it fills up.
