The Palm is an American steakhouse located at the rear of the Westin Hotel. Not just for out-of-towners, the house is filled every night with a mix of high-powered business people and regulars enjoying great food and service. As you enter, notice the many framed caricatures of local celebrities. The large wooden pillars give the room an intimate feeling, while the picture windows are great for daydreaming and watching mall traffic. Begin with a cocktail at the nicely lit bar, if you like. Appetizers include fresh seafood selections of jumbo shrimp cocktail, clams, oysters on the half-shell or lobster bisque. The crab cakes are excellent either as an appetizer or for your main course. Entrées consist of steakhouse classics with a large selection of fish, pasta and Italian dishes, as well. Try the chicken Parmigiano for a treat. Tired of baked potatoes? Opt for red bliss au gratin potatoes or string beans marinara. Dining for two? House specialties can be ordered to split, whether it’s the jumbo Maine lobster or a 36-ounce New York strip steak. Noontime dining is extremely popular. It’s great fun to watch the celebrities who arrive for one of downtown’s best lunches. The lunch menu is much the same as dinner, with the addition of some super salad choices, a Philly cheese steak and a corned beef Reuben. The steak salad is a big winner. Several special deals are offered throughout the year at great prices, so watch for these for a less costly visit. If you’re looking for an upscale meal and people watching downtown, head to The Palm.
