Hi*Rise

handcrafted bread

Enter this bright, sunny spot and you know you are going to have a cheery day. Big windows, bright colors and high ceilings set the scene for the big counter where you see all sorts of wonderful baked goods. You’ll find muffins, stratas, breads, rolls, cookies and freshly made bagels, boiled as in the Big Apple, and all are divine. Read the menu behind the counter and place your order. Take a seat and your meal is delivered. For breakfast there are several stratas (custard filled combinations of bread, eggs and goodies), sandwiches of egg and cheese served on bagels, biscuits, and brioche. Add bacon, ham or chorizo if you like. The bagels rock and are perfect. Add cream cheese or smoked salmon and enjoy. Lunch time the switch is to sandwiches and salads: pork shoulder, muffeletta, ham and brie, prosciutto and mozzarella, veggie, turkey club or tuna salad nicoise. Each comes on homemade breads. Salads bring mushroom with baby spinach, arugula with apples walnuts and cheese, the wedge, and sesame pork with romaine and cilantro lime vinaigrette. All the breads can be purchased and include nine grain, focaccia, brioche, baguette, and semolina. Do not leave without an outrageous cookie! Hot and soft drinks are served to complement the food. The Pastry/Executive Chef is the delightful Jacqueline Blanchard who not only knows her trade, but is charming. Formerly of French Laundry and Frasca, Janet is one great baker. Owners Doug and Kirstin Anderson welcome all and make the visit special. Hi*Rise knows what to do in this altitude and “raises” the quality of daytime eating to a fun new level.
