A new entry to the Larimer Square scene, CRU features excellent wines--the only alcoholic drink--to fans that stop by to enjoy their favorites while they share plates, specialties and cheese. The space is great looking with high ceilings, a focal bar, walls full of wines, wonderful canvas "wallpaper" with hand painted wine labels. Colors of dark purple, gray, black and mahogany create the ambiance for the area upstairs, while comfortable sofas and more seating are offered on the lower level. Flights of wine bring three tastes of several different combinations for those who want to experience the differences in one varietal or several. Then enjoy your favorite by glass or bottle. Start with shrimp and chicken pot stickers, terrific fried calamari with Asian spices and dipping sauce, steamed mussels or blue crab cakes. Sesame crusted ahi tuna, roasted artichoke and crab dip with Fontina cheese and a marvelous five-cheese pizza are other choices. Chef Ebey's specialties include seared citrus salmon, paella, roast chicken and beef tenderloin. The roasted-pomegranate-glazed pork chop served with risotto shows off Chef Ebey's talent for the use of herbs and spices, texture and sauce reductions. The lamb sirloin with ratatouille is another example of complementary tastes. Add green beans, spinach and creamy mac and cheese as optional sides if you like. For that sweet tooth--and for port pairings--try the chocolate flourless cake or lemon tart. Cheese selections are another treat: select their combinations or your own favorites. With a very friendly staff to add to the fun, CRU brings a new dimension of wine and food to this very popular area.

  1. FYI Cru has been in this location for over 4 years. Not sure it still constitutes as 'new'.
