Limon brings Peruvian food to the very popular 17th Ave. neighborhood. The place looks terrific with brown, copper and green walls, large wood tables along a banquette as well as throughout the room, super lighting and a focal bar. The aura of South America is definitely felt in the ambiance as well as the menu. The flavors and presentation of the dishes offer something unique and exciting. Start with appetizers of marinated chicken kabobs with gold potatoes, red beets and salad; potato cake sandwiches of chicken "pate"with avocado and tomatoes or tuna loin with garlic oil. The variety of ceviche offered brings many choices for this dish of various fish. Plantain or Yucca chips make a great accompaniment to the Peruvian drinks or excellent selection of wines as well. Entrees range from an orange-zest spiced ahi tuna on a lentil cake with a divine gooseberry salsa, and a pork chop with bacon-cabbage-potato hash to pork or lamb stew or wok-fried beef tenderloin. Vegetarians delight win a quinoa "risotto" and a vegetarian stew of squash, grains and cheese topped with a fried egg, olives and garlic rice. Desserts are a must: crème brulee, tres leche cake with caramel, pineapple and coconut and a decadent chocolate banana bread pudding with the fruit ice cream of the country. Service is excellent to add to the fun. Limon definitely hits the spot with its distinctive style that brings a terrific option for dining in the area.
