ENCORE is the perfect “ending” to the Lowenstein Theater complex. The Tattered Cover Bookstore and Neighborhood Flix set the stage for a great Denver attraction and ENCORE Restaurant makes it complete. The restaurant is gorgeous with a huge bar of granite, incredible lighting, super seating with shades of green on walls, booths throughout the entire space, treasures from the original setting. Open space on a wall allows you to see the original staircase to the stage, floors that show where the dressing rooms were separated, doors into private dining areas that opened to the stage---things not to miss. A huge open kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven and charcoal grill finish the look. The food is the star with an eclectic menu that ranges from light fare to entrees and all shine. Start with an outrageous cheese platter, flat bread pizzas that are a must, hummus dip, and calamari, a whole artichoke with truffle butter or jalapeño poppers. Enjoy fabulous onion soup served in a copper pot, seared scallop Waldorf spinach salad, or the Thai beef noodle salad. The hamburger, crispy falafel burger or my favorite tuna burger please all. Signature dishes include wood fired chicken with red chili sauce, Moroccan beef short ribs, mussels, snapper or a platter of Mediterranean features that make any vegetarian—or carnivore smile. From the wood fired selection, enjoy rib eye, strip sirloin, filet, tuna, cedar plank salmon or the fish of the day. These arrive perfectly fired under the heat of the oven, juicy and well seasoned. Entrees come with seasonal vegetables or mashers. The sides of fries, asparagus, vegetables, onions and mushrooms, tomatoes with bleu cheese and couscous with orange vinaigrette complement anything on the menu. End with cheesecake, crème brulee, decadent chocolate soufflé or carrot cake. There is an extensive wine list---and wine lockers available if you choose. Service is great and prices affordable. On Friday and Saturday nights, enjoy the pianist. Open for lunch and dinner daily, enter from the outside free-standing doors or through the bookstore. Wow!!! East Colfax rocks with ENCORE and friends—the applause does not stop for this special place.
