Andrea Frizzi now has a great restaurant to call his own. The very talented chef/owner brings a delightful Italian trattoria to the E. 17th Ave. dining scene. One room, the place is charming with exposed ceilings, white walls, hickory wood floors with a paprika finish, and Russian maple topped tables, dark red and black accents and terrific white china. The focal kitchen, where chefs interact with the guests, is trimmed in stainless. Small wine lockers and wine bottles along the shelves finish the scene. The food is the star with an ever changing menu. Fresh bread, marvelous cheeses and Italian meats make a perfect start. Appetizers include divine grilled calamari with capers, parsley and lemon and oil, braised octopus, polenta with sausage, crispy risotto and thin sliced branzino. The pasta choices are many: guanciale with egg yolks, pepper and pecorino, pasta shells with pork ragu, a simple marinara or spinach gnocchi. The Milanese risotto with pears and cheese is a unique blend of flavors. Beef short ribs with cocoa powder, Barolo wine and cauliflower polenta, hanger steak, chicken with baby onions, rabbit and tuna show the creativity of the chef in entrée options. End with bombolini with sambuca, banana pudding or chocolate cream with pistachios and sweet focaccia. The all Italian wine list is very exciting and complements the food. Service is great. Il Posto is pure family, fun and wonderful food and makes the perfect neighborhood restaurant.
