No “bones” about it, the new Bones noodle bar is terrific---and just what the neighborhood needs, and wants. This small 27 seat room is totally upbeat and fun. Black and white tile behind the focal open kitchen/bar where the crowd watches the chefs prepare great food at reasonable prices. Big windows, simple décor, tables and booths, along with the bar seating, set the scene. Chopsticks reign but silver is in the background if one chooses. Start with divine steamed pork or pork belly buns, the best ever, duck confit egg rolls, roasted bone marrow over toasted bread soaked in the sauce, hamache tartare, tuna sashimi, oysters Rockefeller or escargot pot stickers. Share the appetizers and if you like, enjoy a salad. Noodles are the star. Imported from Japan, there is a selection of mains from which to choose. Ramen are complemented with poached lobster, edamame and miso, very buttery and rich. Udon brings roasted pork with the wide flavorful noodles and a poached egg, making a perfect dish. The egg noodles with roasted chicken and spicy broth and Soba noodles chilled with prawns and soy vinaigrette are other great options. There is a vegetarian offerings and with any dish, add a poached egg to make the noodle bowl even better. Don’t miss Frank’s soft serve ice cream for dessert. The wine and specialty drink list is fun, the service great. Frank and Jacqueline Bonnano have done it again. With Mizuna, Luca d’Italia, and Osteria Marco already big hits in Denver, Bones brings great new excitement for dining diners.
