Sometimes a body just needs fried chicken like Grandma used to make before cholesterol took the fun out of it. When that craving hits, drive … do not walk … to Joseph’s Southern Food in Park Hill. The crisp, golden and juicy chicken is without question the best in Colorado. If fried chicken isn’t what you crave, maybe the catfish will do it. Or the slowly cooked ribs. Or just a plain ol’ cheeseburger … thick, juicy and cooked just right. This funky spot has no indoor seating. It features takeout (walk in and pick it up or drive through). But, never mistake this drive-through for fast food. It isn’t. Call ahead if in a hurry but be sure to try everything on the menu at least once. The collard greens are mouth-watering and the peach cobbler is a total WOW! On nice days, there’s plenty of space in the backyard (did we mention this restaurant is in an old house and the drive through-window is right off the drive way?) to sit and enjoy the rather eclectic art that adorns the picnic area. Delightful, delicious and decidedly inexpensive … Joseph’s Southern Food feeds the soul!
