What fun! All those memories of comfort food and those dishes you remember come back to life in grand style at the new Steuben's. The whole plan shows the genius of owners Josh and Jen Wolkon, who brought us Vesta and have created another winner. The place looks great. Casual, fun, great seating--enter into a huge, friendly bar after walking by outdoor seating in front of the restaurant as well as a huge patio area on the side of the building. Brown and beige booths, comfortable chairs and super lighting add to the scene. One whole section is devoted to take-out with a board of choices that will bring folks back daily. And the service-oriented staff will deliver to your car. Chef Matt Selby's menu rocks. Start with garlic shrimp, chili-soy chicken wings full of flavor and spice, baked clams cooked perfectly, Chinese ribs that are awesome, deviled eggs (a true childhood comfort food), mussels, meatballs, and spicy hot green chile. There are several soups and salads from chicken noodle to an iceberg wedge or Greek salad. Picking an entrée is not easy: braised short ribs with mashed potatoes, Memphis barbecue ribs, cioppino, or pan-roasted chicken. If you are a lover of fried chicken--and who isn't?--go for the huge serving of chicken with mashed potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Sandwiches such as burgers, grilled cheese, a rich Monte Cristo, the Cubana, and pulled pork with barbecue sauce please all. The big winner is the Maine lobster roll, dreamy, rich, and chunky, piled on a delicious roll. Sides include mac and cheese, fried corn, fries and baked beans. Did you wonder if desserts continue to create memories? They do with chocolate cake, pie, pudding and Matty's wacky apple a la mode. There are several fun drinks available including a milk shake, not to mention a very nice wine list. On Saturday and Sunday enjoy brunch. Steuben's is a perfect neighborhood hangout and just what you have been wishing for. |

Restaurant Description:
Steuben's is named after a beloved Boston establishment opened by Josh Wolkon's great-uncles
Max and Joe back in 1945; this Steuben's was brought to life over months and years by Wolkon,
his wife, Jen, and chef Matt Selby, the same folks who brought us Vesta Dipping Grill. The
place looks perfect -- not just like any hometown diner or roadhouse, but like all of them.
And the menu, which has been worked and reworked for years, presents the second-best versions
of everyone's favorite regional classics. The only better version you'll find is in your own
home town.
