In Yiddish, zaidy means grandpa, and you'd be proud to take your zaidy to Zaidy's for a treat. As you are seated, a plate of dill pickles and sauerkraut is delivered to your table; and you can purchase a jar of these crisp dills at the deli counter as you leave. Breakfast on the weekends is very popular, so expect a wait. Egg dishes and waffles are the standards along with beautiful smoked sturgeon or lox and cream cheese. A longtime favorite is the latke-Reuben sandwich (two delicious golden brown potato pancakes stuffed with lean corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing). You won't find better matzo-ball soup this side of your favorite Jewish grandma's house. Matzo brie, a traditional Passover dish, is served year-round. Order early for holiday takeout dishes as supplies are limited. Zaidy's is one of Denver's most popular delis.
