Tucked into the building with Denver ChopHouse and Sing Sing, across from Coors Field, this comfortable Irish pub is easy to miss. Workers constructed it from bits and pieces brought here from the native land and then put them together with stonework, a fireplace and a large bar to create something delightfully authentic. Devoted fans come in early to catch the latest live soccer game and have a boxty breakfast of traditional potato pancake wrap stuffed with seafood, sausage or just vegetables. Most nights feature live Irish music that gets fans to sing along or to dance a jig between the tables and beams. The entire space seems deceptively small, a fact that inspires enough confidence to talk with strangers. That’s what an Irish pub is all about—old and new friends, conversation, a pint of Guinness and a hearty meal. The food inspires a feel of solid Irish comfort. Appetizers include imported Irish oak-smoked salmon, baked Brie in a phyllo crust, and chicken tenders with honey mustard. Enjoy a hearty bowl of fisherman’s stew or fish and chips. For dessert, try a slice of rhubarb-custard pie—or just have another pint of Guinness. |
